la vie en...

C'est belle, la vie, Colette a toujours dit.
C'est vrai.
Life these days is good. A series of serendipidous events, small pleasures, fleeting moments.
Hitting the snooze button, rolling over and spooning for another 10 minutes.
Biting into a perfectly toasted slice of Shadeau wholegrain bread slathered with butter and sprinkled with good salt.
Sipping Trader Joe's Wintry Blend coffee while walking in the dry, blustery December weather.
Catching my friend Jeff online after months since our last chat.
Walking into Riverside and having memories of Korea wash over me.
Watching my mint plant come back from the brink of death.

I went to yoga last night and hit a number of small fitness goals. Though my hamstrings are cursing me today and I can barely rise from the couch, my body feels great, alive, engaged.
I did a supported headstand for the first time.

I've realized that a lot of my life revolves around food. I'm reading Michael Pollan's new book "In Defense of Food," and he mentions a disorder called orthorexia, a preoccupation with healthy eating. It makes sense.
